Mahdi Sadeghi Shahdani, scientific secretary of the international conference on urban economy, explained the goals of the conference saying “the event aims to boost development of urbanization in Iran and the world as well as challenges of city management.”
Emphasizing that urban capital links human capital to urban economy, the official noted “more than 70 percent of Iranians live in cities and it will be reached to 80 percent as life is going in the cities.”
The editor-chief of the scientific-research Quarterly Journal of Urban Economics and Management highlighted that cities have challenges in many aspects; “culture, society, policy, and economy become tangible in urban areas, and if it is supposed to cause advancement, the event will be decided upon in cities.”
He further stressed that urban economics claims to manage way of income and expense in cities adding “however, it is not limited to urban finance; it also includes different sectors such as housing, transport, land and etc.”
“The most important priority of urban economy is proving a mechanism so that cities have adequate revenue and they minimize their expenses in order to present best services to citizens,” underlined Sadeghi Shahdani.
The official later enumerated the topics of international conference on urban economics including economy of smart city, economy of urban tourism, economy of urban infrastructures, economic culture of city and citizenship education, urban dilemmas, the environment, and air pollution, management of human capital development and urban economy, banking systems, social banking, and urban economy, modeling resistance economy in cities and urban passive defense, pricing urban services, financing, and municipal revenues, management of municipal service, organizations of urban management, and private sector.
It is noteworthy that international conference on urban economy will be held on May 19 in Tehran with the presence of some Iranian and foreign scientific and executive figures.
It will be held by IUESA and many Iranian and foreign bodies including Interior Ministry, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Allameh Tabatabaei University, Imam Sadiq University, Kharazmi University, Isfahan University, Yazd university, Islamic Azad University, Tehran Municipality, Tehran City Council, Qazvin Municipality, shiraz Municipality, University of Jihad, Asian Mayors forum, UNESCO, UCLG/MEWA as well as METROPOLISE who have been sponsored for this event.
